An advantage of CC is that it bridges a gap between family systems thinking and efficacy theory, where extant research and theory have focused on the self-efficacy of one or both parents. This study aimed to develop a self-reported measure of CC. Methodology: Participants (n = 302), including cohabiting mothers (n = 240) and fathers (n = 62), completed an online survey (112 items) comprising demographic questions, the Coparenting Relationship Scale (CRS), the Parenting Sense of Competence Scale (PSOC), the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), and 36 items designed to explore perceptions of CC. Results: Factor analyses on 36-CC items identified 10 items that reliably formed a brief Coparenting Competence Scale (CCS; Alpha = 0.89). Analysis of convergent and divergent validity demonstrated that the CCS measures a unique construct that is linked to parenting self-efficacy, measured by PSOC (r = 0.47), and coparenting quality, assessed by the CRS (r = 0.63). There was a significant association between CCS and SDQ across age groups and an association stronger than that found for the CRS and SDQ in the current cohort. Conclusions and Implications: The study found support for the reliability and validity of the CCS. Coparenting competence, assessed by the CCS, was found to be distinct from factors previously used to represent coparenting quality in multivariate scales. The model is derived from line-of-sight gravity difference (LGD) measurements obtained from the GRACE-Follow-On (GFO) mission. The solution of a Laplace equation for the boundary values over a spherical cap is used to expand the geo-potential coefficients in terms of Legendre functions with a real degree and integer order suitable for regional modelling, which is used to constrain the geo-potential coefficients using LGD measurements. To validate the performance of the SCHA, it is first utilized with LGD data derived from a L2 JPL (Level 2 product of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory). The obtained LGD data are used to compute the local geo-potential model up to Kmax = 20, corresponding to the SH degree and order up to 60. The comparison of the radial gravity on the Earth’s surface map across Antarctica with the corresponding radial gravity components of the L2 JPL is carried out using local geo-potential coefficients. The results of this comparison provide evidence that these basis functions for Kmax = 20 are valid across the entirety of Antarctica. Subsequently, the analysis proceeds using LGD data obtained from the Level 1B product of GFO by transforming these LGD data into the SCHA coordinate system and applying them to constrain the SCHA harmonic coefficients up to Kmax = 20. In this case, several independent LGD profiles along the trajectories of the satellites are devised to verify the accuracy of the local model. These LGD profiles are not employed in the inverse problem of determining harmonic coefficients. The results indicate that using regional harmonic basis functions, specifically spherical cap harmonic analysis (SCHA) functions, leads to a close estimation of LGD compared to the L2 JPL. The regional harmonic basis function exhibits a root mean square error (RMSE) of 3.71 × 10−4 mGal. This represents a substantial improvement over the RMSE of the L2 JPL, which is 6.36 × 10−4 mGal. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of local geo-potential coefficients obtained from SCHA is a reliable method for extracting nearly the full gravitational signal within a spherical cap region, after validation of this method. The role of biofuels is fundamental to bridging the current situation towards a clean and sustainable future. In passenger cars, the use of ethanol fuel reduces gas emissions (CO2 and other harmful gases), but can bring tribological challenges to the engine. This review addresses the current state-of-the-art on the effects of ethanol fuel on friction, lubrication, and wear in car engines, and identifies knowledge gaps and trends in lubricants for ethanol-fuelled engines. This review shows that ethanol affects friction and wear in many ways, for example, by reducing lubricant viscosity, which on the one hand can reduce shear losses under full film lubrication, but on the other can increase asperity contact under mixed lubrication. Therefore, ethanol can either reduce or increase engine friction depending on the driving conditions, engine temperature, amount of diluted ethanol in the lubricant, lubricant type, etc. Ethanol increases corrosion and affects tribocorrosion, with significant effects on engine wear. Moreover, ethanol strongly interacts with the lubricant’s additives, affecting friction and wear under boundary lubrication conditions. Regarding the anti-wear additive ZDDP, ethanol leads to thinner tribofilms with modified chemical structure, in particular shorter phosphates and increased amount of iron sulphides and oxides, thereby reducing their anti-wear protection. Tribofilms formed from Mo-DTC friction modifier are affected as well, compromising the formation of low-friction MoS2 tribofilms; however, ethanol is beneficial for the tribological behaviour of organic friction modifiers. Although the oil industry has implemented small changes in oil formulation to ensure the proper operation of ethanol-fuelled engines, there is a lack of research aiming to optimize lubricant formulation to maximize ethanol-fuelled engine performance.
